ENGLISH- A STANDARD TO JUDGE ONE’S INTELLECT!

Here in our country, or shall i say in subcontinent, English is a language that is considered to be a scale or a standard upon which one’s intelligence is measured. If you don’t know or understand english that well, then sorry you are not allowed to speak, to participate, and to attend gatherings of your co-workers and you are going to be looked down upon . Basically you become an outlier to your mates despite being an intellectual. Why does our society has that craze for this language? People in other parts of the world feel proud to speak their native language. Whereas, here it is considered an honor to speak in english and speaking in the native is considered a disgrace. English is just another language. Treat it as such. Yes it is true that it is widely understood language and your daily tasks invlove the use of this language, so learn it for the communication but do not feel ashamed if you are not that fluent in it. The actual shameful thing in reality is if you are unaware of your native language. Nations that become succesful, own their culture, their customs and their language. English should not be the standard to measure someone’s knowledge or intelligence. Learn it as a language and not as the proof of your intellect.
